20th May 2025: Celtic Spirituality

Peter Neilson

What can we learn from Celtic Spirituality about mission and evangelism?

Interest in Celtic Spirituality has grown in recent years, and it has much to teach us about being in community, being present in our place, relationship with nature, discipleship, mission and evangelism.

Our guest is Peter Neilson from Scotland. Peter recently celebrated 50 years of ministry within the Church of Scotland in a range of roles from parish ministry in Glasgow and Edinburgh city centre to national roles in mission and supporting church-planters. For a number of years, he acted as a freelance mission consultant and hosted day retreats at his home along with his wife, Dorothy, who is a spiritual director and Enneagram practitioner. Peter was involved from 2004 in establishing Invest, the predecessor to the Forge course for training in Pioneer Mission. He serves as part of the Scottish Forge Team and has had a long association with the Celtic-inspired Community of Aidan and Hilda. On the family front, Dorothy and Peter have three married daughters (one in Auckland!) and six grandchildren.

Darryl Tempero from the Forge team will be our host.  Darryl has spent many years exploring Celtic Spirituality, which has significantly influenced the Kiwi Church journey.
